How It Works

One checkbox and a prefix. Behind them sits a normal Odoo sequence, so padding and the next number are configurable.
New products arrive numbered
Products created afterwards carry a code from the sequence. Anything you type by hand still wins.

- Navigate to Apps.
- Search with keyword to_product_code_sequence.
- Press Install.

1. Enable the Automatic Product Code Generation feature
Navigate to the Settings and check the box to enable this feature on the Units of Measure section in the General settings to use in inventory management.
2. Configure product code generation rule
Navigate to Inventory > Configuration > Product Categories, add configure the following information:
- Product Code Prefix;
- Product Sequence.
3. Create a product
When you create a new product, select the Product Category set up in the previous step, and an internal reference code will be automatically generated for this product according to the configured rules.
